Apple has been embroiled in plenty of patent lawsuits in the past, but they don’t often wind up on the losing end. This time, they did… and they could have to pay as much as $862 million in damages as a result. The patent in question dates back to 1996, when it was filed by researchers at the University of Wisconsin. It’s titled “Table based data speculation circuit for parallel processing computer” and is assigned to the Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation.
